According to the recent US News Education Ranking, NTU’s Computer Science, as subject, is ranked no. 3 in the World, before MIT, Stanford, Harvard and Berkeley. I must say that I feel a bit honoured to be chosen to work at the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) @ NTU next semester. It will be a great opportunity to both contribute and learn from my new colleges both regarding teaching, but also around research. I do believe that great research comes from great teaching.
Even though the system with ranking is not as familiar (and used) in Sweden, Swedish universities tend to mention whenever they score a high ranking in the different university rankings that are around. However, in other parts of the world, especially Asia, they really like rankings and NTU does perform very well in most rankings. NTU is, among other, the World’s Top Young University, a list that Umeå University was on until our university turned 50 a couple of years ago.
